Profile Information

WHAT DO YOU DO?

Let me tell you a little about me. My name is Yvonne and I am originally from Holland. At a turning point in my life, I packed 2 suitcases, sold everything that did not fit in and went to the Dominican Republic (DR). I had no place to live, no work and only $200 in my hand. I managed to do well and stayed there for almost 8 years.

I came to the States in January ‘04 to become a live-in nanny for a friend I had met in the DR while I was managing a scuba diving center (he was a regular customer). My time in the DR was very interesting and definitely a learning experience. In my first year here I met Howie and we have been happily married since October ‘05.

Business wise? I work full time in a daycare center as a pre-school teacher (my passion) and I have a health and wellness related business. It is important to eat the right foods, exercise regularly and take the right supplements to live a healthy life. I believe that the future of medicine is FOOD.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS.

One of my passions is NETWORKING. I am the organizer of a fairly large business networking group The Long Island Entrepreneurs Meet - http://www.meetup.com/longislandentrepreneurs. I started this group 3 years ago and must say that it is pretty successful. Every meeting I hear lots of stories about connections made, referrals received and given, and the group keeps on growing and growing. Check out the events section of this site for the next meeting ;-)
